CAST YOUR BALLOT

Good Morning Blog Mates,

Yesterday we went to help a member of our church feed the homeless. This act of kindess was truly overwhelming for several reasons. The first being that these members already have a full plate as they are foster parents to a group of kids all under the age of ten, huh, imagine that. Second the organization that they had in putting the bags together for feeding 200 homeless people was nothing less than impressive.

After filling the bags we headed to the area here in Las Vegas that is pretty much the equivelent to what we called "Skid Row" in California. It was heartbreaking to see the variety of people that are suffering from homelessness for whatever the reason. There were young and old male and female, each just wanting something to put in their stomachs lining up to accept a meal that a lot of us simply take for granted.

It touched me when a gentleman asked if we had any water (unfortunatley we did not) however there was another homeless guy who shared one of his bottles with him, it is amazing how folks with little to nothing are willing to share what they have for the comfort of another. I wished we could have done more because homelessness is truly an epidemic in America.

It is a shame that individuals care more about the conditions of others than our elected officials do. When I think about the water situation in Michigan, and those that are now coming to light in Ohio. When I listen to the news and hear about them dumping snow in flood zone residents in Trenton, it makes me wonder "who the hell is running the local governments"?

Folks will be quick to blame the President, however if you know anything about governing, our local offcials are the ones who represent our interest in Washington and it is becoming more apparent that something is not quite right in the water (excuse the pun) As we listen to the race for who our next President will be, it would behoove us to pay attention to the local officials that we place into office. It would be beneficial for us the common American, to pay attention to the promises that our local Alderman, Congress persons, State Senators and Governors are making before we cast our votes.

I will not go as far as to say it is a "black or white" thing because when it is all said and done, those of us who do not fit into that 1% catagory no matter what our color are falling as victims to the greedy, slick, deceitful acts of our government. Homelessness should not be an issue that is resolved by individuals, when we live in a country that has a wealth of property and food. Homelessness, should not be a reality for our veterans that fought for the safety and freedom of this country.

Homelessness, should not be an option when the constitution says that this country offers everyone " life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". We must stop allowing those few(1%) with the big dollars in their bank account to dictate the future of the rest of us and the only way to do this is to CAST YOUR VOTE!!!!
